The big storm predicted to hit Malibu last night moved South and landed in South Orange County. I heard that they got somewhere around 4 or 5 inches of rain overnight.
At 10:pm I put out a rain gauge to measure the big rain forecasted. It filled up exactly 1″. This is after days of rain, maybe somewhere around 4″ to 6″ here in the Malibu. I wish I had put a gauge out earlier as it is always fun to know about the weather when it is so far out from the ordinary. It has been a really beautiful time here in The Malibu. Today while walking the dog, I was privileged to witness the sun reappearing out over the ocean. it began as a huge reflection off the ruffled ocean surface. In the sky you could tell that there was a break in the cloud cover. It was not big enough to see any blue sky. In the cloudy area around the break in the gray mass that covered us for days was a gradual melting to white with a hint of powder blue. I think you would have like it. I didn’t have a camera. Damm.
Soon the sky open up to reveal a brilliant blue. The sun shone through and hit my face. It was warm. I unzipped my raincoat and let the wonderful warmth permeate my cloths to warm my skin.
The whole morning incident gave me such hope for the coming real estate market. We all have experienced a dredging with the housing foreclosures and homeowners being forced to withstand so much difficulties as the result of lost jobs, business failures and overall economic downturn. There really is a silver lining. The sun always comes out again.
When someone wants to know about how the market is, the obvious answer is that if you are a buyer right now, it could not be any better.
Now is the time that investors move in and scoop up as much real estate as they possibly can. The boom bust cycle that we are near the end of is only another downturn in a repeated event that has gone on since anyone ever took the time to measure economic results. For hundreds of years real estate prices have move in approximately 20 year cycles. Those that have understood this phenomenon have been able to build great wealth during the end of the downturns-recessions-depressions or whatever name the experts come up with for the current set of economic factors.
I am going to buy some four unit places, What are you going to do?
